How did Ludicolo get its name?

He looks a bit ludicrous, which means very silly and crazy. "Colo" may come from a colocynthis, a plant that makes a round fruit with stripes that looks sort of like Ludicolo. It may also come from a coloratura, which is a singer with a very high voice, like Joan Sutherland. Ludicolo loves singing and is often pictured singing.
